Kid Capri is a talented musician of Afro-Italian descent who was born on January 1, 1970 in New York. Capri started his career as a DJ and has produced tracks for a variety of artists such as Heavy D, Big L, Grand Puba, and Quincy Jones. In 1991 he released his debut album entitled The Tape. The album, that is a mixture of Hip Hop and Hardcore Rap, included the singles Apollo and Joke's On You Jack.
Before the release of his second album Kid Capri appeared on the 1997 Puff Daddy and The Family World Tour. The singer’s second album Soundtrack to the Streets was released in 1998 included the single Unify featuring Snoop Doggy Dogg and Slick Rick. The album also featured great artists such as Jay-Z, Warren G, Busta Rhymes, Angie Martinez, Cam'ron and Jermaine Dupri.
