Daddy Yankee, born Ramón Ayala on February 3, 1977 is a Latin Grammy Award-winning artist. He made his debut in 1995 when he was eighteen years old with the album entitled No Mercy. The first solo successful album was El Cartel released in 2000 and a year later, in 2001 Daddy Yankee released the album’s sequel El Cartel II. In 2002 El Cangri.com was released and it included the single Latigazo that reached number 43 on Billboard's Top Latin Albums chart. The album, Barrio Fino, released in 2004 was the most highly anticipated album in the reggaeton community.
The year 2005 proved to be an outstanding year for Daddy Yankee as he won various international awards such as Premio Lo Nuestro where he performed the hit Gasolina. His next album El Cartel: The Big Boss released in 2007 represents a return to his hip hop and it features will.i.am, Scott Storch, Tainy Tunes, Neli.
