Egil “Swedish Egil†Aalvik is widely considered the godfather of modern electronic dance music in Los Angeles. Shortly after he arrived from Sweden he became a DJ on the influential KROQ (106.7 FM) in the 1980’s.
Later he helped start up the nation's first commercial techno station, the short-lived MARS in 1991. He also launched Groove Radio in 1996-97.
In 2000, The Swedish Egil also founded one of the Internet's most popular online stations, grooveradio.com. On Saturday nights, The Swedish Egil joins DJs Richard “Humpty†Vission and Raul Campos for Power Tools on Power 106.
He also regularly performs in clubs around the world.
